Sing, Sing, Sing - Wholesome AND Catchy!

I generally listen to Christian Contemporary music.  My kids hear it ALL the time, but I never hear them singing along (of course, this could be due to their constant bickering chitter-chatter both at home and in the car).

Sadly, the first radio song lyric that stuck to my 5-year-old's tongue was, "Do the Helen Keller and talk with your hips." from 3Oh!3's "Don't Trust Me" which is a really, really unwholesome song - and I am rather dismayed that though I'd like to blame the neighbors for miseducating him (he DID hear this over there a LOT), I know for certain that he's heard it on our car radio - and I confess that - in spite of the abhorable sentiments and lyrics (ick) - I really like the tune.  Fortunately, this is the ONLY line from the song that stuck with him (to my knowledge).

The other song lyric that comes out of his sweet little mouth is "Tonight's gonna be a good, good night." from Black Eyed Peas' "I Gotta Feeling" which also is so, so catchy - but, alas, is the quintessential party song (and not the 5-year-old-birthday-party kind of party;  more like the I-am-gonna-get-messed-up-tonight-and-do-all-sorts-of-crazy-things-I'd-never-do-sober kind of party).

*groan*

So, anyway - it was with GREAT (GREAT!!!!) pleasure that I heard Xander singing along to Chris Tomlin's anthem of praise, "Sing, Sing, Sing" today as I drove him home from daycare today.  Hallelujah!  Finally, a Christian tune catchy enough to stick to my impressionable young man.  Whoo hoo!!!!  Thank you, Mr. Tomlin!

  1. Kris Ann-

I went to YouTube to find out who these people are because I have never heard of them and I would like to say that yes, that is not a wholesome song. YUCK!! My husband was sitting on the couch when the song came up and he said what in the world are you listening to and I said that this group was on your blog and I wanted to find out who they were. He asked with wild eyes why in the world that group with this song would be on your blog and thats when I had to explain.....Funny, I had to laugh.
